Meet the Pedal Posse: Angela Sinnett, aka Spun Sugar

By day, Angela is the friendly voice patients and families hear when they call Memory & Movement Charlotte on the phone. Angela specializes in new patient calls – her calm, clear, kind demeanor instantly put anxious families at ease.

By weekend, she’s baking up a frenzy for her custom cake business – Angela’s Sugar Shack! – for fifteen years.

And now, her third career – as Spun Sugar, a Memory & Movement Charlotte Pedal Posse instructor! We caught up with Angela (not easy to do!) and asked a few questions:

How has exercise impacted your own life?
Regular exercise has been a part of my life since my early 20's.  I was overweight as a teen and didn't have healthy eating habits or an exercise routine until I began riding my bike to class and to work.  I lost over 50 pounds and found that I enjoyed a healthier lifestyle.  Exercise has allowed me to maintain a healthy weight and given me an outlet for my energy!

What do you love most about exercise in general?
I love being active in many ways. I like to keep moving, and I just feel better on days when I can exercise.

Why do you think spin is such a great workout for people of all ages and abilities?
As we age, our joints aren't as happy with us when we're active.  Cycling provides a great cardiovascular workout that is easy on the joints.

What’s one song that always gets you energized during a ride?
Lose Yourself by Eminem

What’s one tip you’d give to someone who’s nervous about trying spin for the first time?
It's YOUR workout.  You don't need to impress anyone but yourself.   So go at your own pace and just enjoy the music.  And if you have them, wear padded shorts!

What do you hope participants will feel when they leave your class?
Energized and excited to come back!
