Memory & Movement Charlotte is seeking an experienced medical claims specialist to join our exceptional team. MMC is a unique, not-for-profit mission based medical practice offering diagnosis, treatment and support to patients and their families battling the full spectrum of memory and movement disorders. Job Summary:
This full-time medical claims position will be responsible for the review, accurate and timely submission of all clinical billings for reimbursement. Additional duties include managing provider credentialling, claims appeals, patient interface and review and validation of all financial transactions related to clinical billing.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure encounters are accurately coded and submit clinical billings to Athena, our EMR, for processing and reimbursement, ensuring compliance with medical coding guidelines and policies
- Work with Athena and all insurance companies to resolve any issues, appeal denials and ensure timely reimbursement of claims
- Monitor Athena (EMR) daily to resolve any open issues
- Monitor and manage all provider credentialling and license renewals
- In conjunction with our accounting team, monitor and verify all financial transactions related to clinical billings.
- Serve as the expert on all medical coding issues and provide recurring education sessions to ensure providers are apprised of regulatory changes and claims coding improvement opportunities.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure encounter documentation is compliant with required standards and provide feedback to providers, as required
Education, Experience and Certifications:
- Completion of a 2-year associate degree and or 4-year Bachelor of Science degree
- CPC certified
- 1-2 years’ experience medical coding and billing
- Proven experience in administrative medical information management and computer applications
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to interface effectively with patients and caregivers and explain and/or resolve benefit coverage issues
- Excellent communication and time management skills
