Virtual Happy Hour
Join staff, patients, caregivers and friends of MMC for an hour of community and conversation.
An explanation of Virtual Happy Hour from Dr. Sanjay Iyer:
While COVID-19 has caused inconceivable numbers of deaths, the feelings of isolation stemming from social distancing and “stay at home” recommendations has been equally destructive to the mental health of millions. In April, 2020 our team began discussing the impact the social isolation must be having on our patients and their caregivers. From these concerns, Virtual Happy Hour was conceived. We invited caregivers, patients and friends of MMC to join us on Thursday evenings for a virtual hour of community and conversation. During the one-month hiatus we had from Happy Hour in June so many of my patients and their families told me that they missed Happy Hour and asked when it would restart. Success can be measured in many ways, but that said enough to me.
Spousal Caregiver Group
The task of caring for a spouse or partner with a memory or movement disorder can feel heavy and thankless, but you are not alone. We want to create a safe space for open and honest conversation between caregivers within Memory & Movement Charlotte for those who care for a spouse with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, or a related disorder. Join Chris Jones on Tuesday, August 18th at 1:30pm for the first MMC Spousal Caregiver Group meeting.*
*This group is intended for those whose spouse or partner is a patient of Memory & Movement Charlotte. It is not intended for patients.
