FY 2021 By the Numbers
Why Your Donation Matters
Because we practice a different kind of care.
Traditional medical billing through insurance companies assumes that doctors see 30 – 40 patients in a single day and spend only 10-15 minutes with each. We believe more time is critical to effectively and comprehensively treat patients and families dealing with memory and movement disorders. At MMC, appointments last 60 – 120 minutes.
We understand that caregivers need care too, and caregiver education and support is an essential part of treatment here. Often a visit to our practice is the only time family members “check in” on their own physical and mental health.
Each appointment includes time with the patient, time with the caregivers, and time together with various members of the MMC care team.
Insurance carriers reimburse our office based on a typical, shorter patient interaction - covering a fraction of the time spent by our providers with patients and families. It covers almost none of the time spent on education and caregiver support.
Annual fees, grants, and private donations close the gap and allow us to provide each family the time and attention they need.
Thank you for your generosity.
