Dr. Melissa Shepard, MD
Watching Alzheimer’s take its toll on her grandfather and seeing how difficult it was for him to get the right kind of help, led Dr. Shepard to the Memory & Movement Center. Born in Charlotte and raised in southern Maryland, she graduated from the University of Maryland and University of Maryland School of Medicine. She did her residency in psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. A particular area of interest for Dr. Shepard is suicide, and helping the community better understand this growing crisis. She and her husband, Chris, have one daughter, Cora. Away from work, she clears her mind by writing and stays fit through CrossFit and weightlifting.
