Jaya, a rising senior at Charlotte Latin School, is excited to return to Memory & Movement Charlotte this summer. She brings her journalism skills from her role as an editor in chief on the school newspaper to the MMC office where she will interview patients and families for a photo and essay project. Jaya learned about Memory & Movement Charlotte from her dad, who inspired her through his deep care for his patients. While not at school or work, Jaya can be found reading, crocheting, making videos, or spending time with her dog, Coco.

What are the interns doing? Lots!

Hannah Barnes is completing a Master of Public Health, and this internship is part of her coursework. In addition to general assistance throughout the clinic, Hannah is primarily working on two projects:

  • developing a framework for a new Buddy Program based on best practices around the country
  • assisting a videography team in the creation of an on-demand video orientation course for new patients and families

Jaya Iyer and Elias Lopes are working together on the Families of MMC project. Inspired by Humans of New York, this photo-essay project strives to illustrate the vitality and diversity of families living with memory and movement conditions.

Maskeen Kaur is assisting Dr. Iyer's team this summer. She plans to apply to medical school, and is exploring movement neurology as a possible area of specialization.
