John Chanon
Chair
John is returning to the MMC Board. He is a retired CPA who formerly served as the NC Managing Partner for Tatum CFO Partners. Prior to that, Mr. Chanon worked for Ruddick Corporation for twenty-five years in various positions including Senior Vice President of Finance for Harris Teeter Supermarkets.
Charles H. Edwards II, MD
Vice Chair and Founding Physician
MMC was born of the vision, passion and conviction of Dr. Edwards. In his role as a board member, Dr. Edwards will guide the strategic growth of the practice regionally and advocate for the Time and Attention model of care nationally and in a variety of settings.
Scott Kerr
Treasurer
Scott is retired from a long career with the Atrium Health Foundation and brings deep understanding of grant-making and nonprofit administration.
John Beyer
Secretary
John is an attorney with Parker Poe, concentrating on professional negligence and product liability defense. He has served on the board of directors of the NC Association of Defense Attorneys, is a member of the Defense Research Institute and led Parker Poe's Professional Negligence & Product Liability Defense Group.
Hannah Dickerson
Development Chair
Hannah brings both personal and professional experience to the board. She previously served as Vice President of Advancement at Wingate University, and was the primary caregiver for her mother.
Bernard Burns
Bernard’s long career has focused on corporate law, industrial manufacturing, and mergers and acquisitions. From 2001 until his retirement in 2018, he was co-founder and a Managing Director of McGuireWoods Capital Group.
Bernard has served on the boards of companies engaged in a variety of businesses, including service as interim CEO and member of compensation, audit and executive committees.
Bill Crowder
Bill is the Executive Vice President of Crowder Constructors, Inc. He also serves as a trustee for Wingate University, a board member of Alexander Children's Network, and an Elder in his church. He brings deep understanding as a caregiver.
Joe Marley
Joe is the former Managing Director of Marsh & McLennan Companies, and today owns and manages a commercial real estate investment firm as well as a pine timber farm in South Carolina. He’s active with many area organizations, including leadership roles on capital campaigns for NC State University, Charlotte Rescue Mission, and Crossnore School and he leads the Name, Image and Likeness Collective for NC State Baseball. Joe also chaired the Epicurean Society Scholarship fund at Johnson & Wales University for three years.
John McAlister
John McAlister retired as Director of Government Relations for Electrolux North America in August 2023. In that role he directed and coordinated the company’s local, state and federal government affairs activities.
Prior to joining Electrolux in 2012 McAlister served as a Sr. VP for State and Local Government Relations for Bank of America; VP of Government Relations for the NC Chamber and Regional Director, State Government Affairs NC for Duke Energy. He began his private sector career at Duke Power in 1984, after working in Washington DC on political campaigns.
Harsha Mirchandani
Harsha is a physical therapist and is involved in her mother's care. She is passionate about nonprofit work and served on MMC's caregiver advisory committee.
John Morrice
John served as an attorney with Johnston, Allison & Hord, P.A. for forty years before retiring in 2023. He advised privately held and family-owned businesses and continues to sit on a few privately held company boards.
His community leadership includes service on boards for VIA Health Partners (formerly known as Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region), Meritas Law Firms Worldwide, Levine Museum of the New South, Teen Health Connection, and Mecklenburg Bar Foundation.
Camille Salisbury
Camille Salisbury has been a dedicated advocate for the Charlotte Parkinson’s community for nearly three decades. A former textile sales and marketing professional, Camille and her family have played a key role in expanding Parkinson’s awareness and care in Charlotte. She is a proud mother of two and a new grandmother.
Don Taft
Don is retired from Hoechst Celanese and his career as a management consultant. He's been a trustee of Wingate University for over 30 years and board chair for three years. Don is a weekly Bible resource leader at Pritchard church in South End and a national church renewal consultant.
