Cindy Grim
Chair
Cindy rejoins the board after serving from 2014-2021. She is retired from Bank of America after a long career in corporate and investment banking, and is currently doing consulting work. Cindy previously served as chair of the board of the Charlotte Catholic High School Foundation.

Mark McAlister
Vice Chair
Mark is a Charlotte native and a graduate of Sewanee, The University of the South. He began his career in banking and transitioned into the paper and packaging business over 30 years ago. He and his wife Lib have 3 married children...all Sewanee grads.

Brian Jones
Treasurer
Brian is a co-founder and principal of Providence Capital Advisors, and the Director of Financial Planning. He offers strategic guidance in virtually every area of personal finance. Brian also serves on the finance committee at Myers Park United Methodist Church.

Teresa Starr
Secretary
Teresa served on the board of Matthews Free Medical Clinic and St. Stephen Preschool and worked in Admissions at Providence Day School and Queens Univ. She has volunteered with numerous non-profits in Charlotte, including Physician’s Impact Fund and St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Nancy Downing
Immediate Past Chair
Nancy has served on the Board of Trustees at Thompson and currently serves on the Board at Providence Day School and the Board of Advisors of Greenhouse Scholars. Her experience with these organizations has included fundraising, strategic planning, Board cultivation and governance. She and her husband Bruce have 4 grown children.

John Beyer
John is an attorney with Parker Poe, concentrating on professional negligence and product liability defense. He has served on the board of directors of the NC Association of Defense Attorneys, is a member of the Defense Research Institute and led Parker Poe's Professional Negligence & Product Liability Defense Group.

Bill Crowder
Bill is the Executive Vice President of Crowder Constructors, Inc. He also serves as a trustee for Wingate University, a board member of Alexander Children's Network, and an Elder in his church. He brings deep understanding as a caregiver.

Mary Lou Daly
Mary Lou is a client advisor for Bragg Financial Advisors, where she provides retirement, estate, investment, and financial planning services to clients. She has also worked as a CPA.

Hannah Dickerson
Hannah brings both personal and professional experience to the board. She previously served as Vice President of Advancement at Wingate University, and is currently caring for her mother, a Memory & Movement Charlotte patient.

Scott Kerr
Scott recently retired from a long career with the Atrium Health Foundation and brings deep understanding of grant-making and nonprofit administration.

Jenny Longshore
Jenny is the Director of Executive Talent Attraction with Centene Corporation, a healthcare enterprise that focuses on under-insured and uninsured individuals. Before joining Centene, Jenny was a senior human resources leader with Novant and Atrium Health.

Harsha Mirchandani
Harsha is a physical therapist and is involved in her mother's care. She is passionate about nonprofit work and served on MMC's caregiver advisory committee.

Don Taft
Don is retired from Hoechst Celanese and his career as a management consultant. He's been a trustee of Wingate University for over 30 years and board chair for three years. Don is a weekly Bible resource leader at Pritchard church in South End and a national church renewal consultant.
